PTF SM-1 goes beyond recreating the layout of the original sampler. The complete sampling path has been modeled around the way the real machine records, stores and plays sound back. Its converters, recording grades, pitch behaviour and sonic coloration all become part of the sound.
Load a perfectly clean digital sample and the SM-1 can give it the weight, bandwidth and unmistakable texture of audio that has actually passed through vintage sampling hardware.
Four Grades. Four Different Machines.
HIGH, STANDARD, LONG1 and LONG2 aren't simply EQ curves placed over the same sampler. Each recording grade uses its own neural-measured model, capturing the different frequency response, harmonic behaviour and playback character produced by the hardware at that setting.
Move from the cleaner, harder sound of HIGH through progressively more degraded modes until LONG2 turns pristine digital material into dusty, bandwidth-limited sampler grit.
A Sampler, And a Complete Device, Not Just an Effect
SM-1 keeps the workflow of a hardware sampler inside the DAW. Eight pads and four switchable banks give you 32 sample slots, while the master pitch control lets you transpose the complete machine together for classic tape-style pitch changes.
Samples can be stored using the virtual memory-card system, while the side-chain input lets you record audio directly into SM-1 from another track in your session. Sample, pitch, sequence and resample without leaving the plugin.

i fell in love with this unit immediately during the trial. same goes with the sp-12, however I prefer routing my instrument bus through this and my drums through the sp. past to future is putting out quality products at a rate that most competitors could only dream of.
